Google is reportedly developing a new feature that would allow users to unlock their Pixel Watch instantly upon unlocking their paired Pixel phone – effectively mirroring the functionality of Apple’s longstanding ‘Unlock with iPhone’ system.

A Reverse of Current Watch Unlock

This proposed change represents a significant shift from the current ‘Watch Unlock’ feature, which requires users to manually initiate the unlocking process on their smartwatch. It’s a move designed to eliminate a persistent daily frustration for Pixel Watch owners.

The functionality, dubbed ‘Phone to Watch Unlock’ internally, has already been identified within Google’s Connected Phone & Watch services app. The code strings clearly outline the process: a one-time setup involving PIN or pattern entry, after which the watch handles the unlocking autonomously.
