Tesla & apple carplay integration reportedly imminent after technical hurdles

A long-awaited feature for Tesla owners is finally nearing release as the company overcomes technical challenges in integrating Apple CarPlay into its vehicles.

According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Tesla is working to enable Apple CarPlay on its vehicles, a move that will greatly appeal to iPhone owners who make up a significant portion of Tesla's customer base.

Overcoming technical roadblocks

However, the integration process has not been without its hurdles. Apple Maps and Tesla's own navigation system initially clashed, causing issues that forced Apple to refine its Maps app for the Tesla hardware.

Preparing for wide adoption

As a result, Tesla is waiting for a majority of iPhone users to upgrade to the latest iOS 26 before rolling out the CarPlay feature. Currently, the update is installed on 74% of newer iPhone models – a slower adoption rate than usual.
