The dramatic move will also see the broadcaster axe its radio service, CBS News Radio, with all positions on the team to be eliminated by May 22nd. The decision was made due to a shift in radio programming strategies and the economic climate, the memo stated.

Weiss, who took the reins at CBS News in October following Paramount's acquisition of her media firm Free Press, has made significant changes to the network, including the appointment of a new anchor for the evening news broadcast.

In a recent controversy, Weiss also faced backlash for delaying a segment of the popular investigative program 60 Minutes that exposed the deportation of migrants to foreign prisons. The episode was eventually aired with minimal changes.
