In a significant blow to the illegalstreaming trade, Spanish law enforcement has apprehended two British nationals operating a fraudulent IPTV subscription service from their Alicante residence. This operation marks the latest in a series of coordinated efforts across Europe to protect intellectual property and combat digital fraud.The suspects, aged 50 and 70, respectively, ran a pirate IPTV network catering to approximately 330 active subscribers. These customers paid for access to premium TV channels without the requisite authorization from content rights holders, like Magis TV, which infamously partnered with LaLiga in 2026 before ceasing operations.

Authorities seize equipment and evidence
During the property raid, authorities seized 42 decoders, seven memory cards, a computer, two mobile phones, and a tablet – all utilized for managing and distributing illicit content. The system allowed users to access channels on smart TVs, computers, and mobile devices via username and password, keeping the operators relatively under the radar.
Investigation initiated by telecom complaints
The investigation began after receiving denunciations from affected telecommunications companies and streaming services. Collaborating with cyber security experts, the Cybercrime Unit traced the illegal activity to the suspects' residence, where the direct management of the pirate IPTV platform was confirmed.
International cooperation and user sanctions
Similar operations have taken place in recent weeks across countries like Ireland, Italy, and Greece, with some instances involving international cooperation. In Greece, authorities have even started imposing fines of hundreds or thousands of euros on users caught accessing pirated content.
