Us cracks down on global piracy networks

The United States has declared war on piracy, unveiling a massive campaign to combat illegal streaming and file-sharing ahead of this summer's FIFA World Cup. As a co-host of the tournament, the US is particularly keen to tackle the sale of counterfeit merchandise and the illicit broadcast of live sports.

Ustr calls out top piracy threats

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) has released its annual report highlighting the most pursued pirate websites globally. The list targets streaming services, torrent sites, e-commerce platforms, music streaming, gambling, and book piracy.

Netflix has thrown in the towel, while Paramount is buying Warner Bros for $110 billion. The USTR report estimates that pirate IPTV services have generated losses of up to $62.6 billion in 2024 alone.

Top IPTV pirates named and shamed include Magis TV, Cuevana, GenIPTV, HiAnime, MyFlixerz, and VegaMovies. Torrent sites like 1337X, RuTracker, The Pirate Bay, and YTS.mx are also under the microscope, along with file-hosting services Krakenfiles, Rapidgator, and 1fichier.

Even social media platforms like VK, Y2Mate, and SaveFrom are accused of facilitating piracy, particularly in the music realm. Gaming sites FitGirl-Repacks, MIG Flash, and UnknownCheats are also on the naughty list for gambling and game piracy.
