Road closure sparks confusion

The issue began when Aberdeen Road was closed for construction, set to remain shut until the end of the year. Instead of following official detours and temporary signage, many drivers opted to exclusively rely on Google Maps for guidance.

This led to a chain of surprising and concerning situations: vehicles attempting to navigate through unpaved terrain, drivers parking and walking on private parcels, and even cars getting stuck in muddy areas. The app's incorrect directions had unwitting drivers in a precarious predicament.

Local authorities intervened, posting a public notice on social media to remind residents not to blindly trust navigation apps. The district also began installing additional signage to redirect traffic during the road closure and prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
