Ai's dark future for gen z

A new era of technological disruption is looming, and its impact on the future of work is stark. According to Bill McDermott, CEO of ServiceNow and ai expert, the rise of automation will leave a staggering 30% of Gen Z graduates unemployed within the next two years.

Intelligent machines vs. young minds

McDermott's dire prediction paints a bleak picture for the generation born between 1997 and 2012. As ai agents increasingly take over routine tasks, the job market will become increasingly hostile to young entrants.

While the prospect of widespread automation is daunting, McDermott believes it's a natural consequence of technological progress. 'It's very natural to worry about employment,' he asserts. 'Young people graduating today face a 9% unemployment rate, which could easily double to 18% in the next two years.'

Other tech moguls like Sam Altman and Bill Gates have expressed more optimistic views on ai's potential to create new jobs, but McDermott's outlook is decidedly bleaker. His company has partnered with OpenAI, the creators of ChatGPT, in a 'strategic collaboration' that underscores the growing role of ai in the workforce.

As the tech giants like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft continue to automate processes, the fear is that millions of workers across all industries will be displaced. The question on everyone's mind is whether ai will create more jobs than it destroys, or if it will simply reshape the workforce in ways we can't yet predict.
