Apple has finally confirmed the rumors: a new, affordable MacBook is arriving, poised to shake up the laptop market. The MacBook Neo, starting at $599, represents the company’s most accessible laptop offering yet.

Pro chip, the same processor found in last year’s iPhone 16 Pro models, the MacBook Neo delivers solid performance for everyday tasks. It features a 13-inch display, 8GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD – expandable to 512GB. The laptop is available in a range of colors – silver, indigo, blush, and citrus – each paired with a color-matched Magic Keyboard.Trade-offs exist, of course. The 8GB RAM is not upgradable, and a Touch ID sensor is reserved for the 512GB configuration. Notably, the MacBook Neo lacks Thunderbolt and MagSafe ports, and the included 20W charger won't support fast charging.
Apple claims a battery life of up to 16 hours. It also supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6. This is significantly cheaper than the starting price of the M5 MacBook Air, which begins at $1,099.
