Galaxy S27 Series Processor Goes Into Mass Production With a Caveat

Samsung has begun mass production of the processor for the Galaxy S27 lineup – the Exynos 2700. This silicon will power the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, and Galaxy S27 Pro, while the Galaxy S27 Ultra will likely utilize a Qualcomm silicon, specifically the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 for Galaxy.

Exynos 2700 Enters Mass Production

According to the Korean media outlet The Elec, Samsung has initiated the mass production phase of the Exynos 2700 in quantities sufficient to supply the upcoming Galaxy S27, S27 Plus, and S27 Pro models. This signifies the silicon has moved beyond the sample stage and is ready for the next steps.

While there's typically a three-to-four-month gap between mass production of a chip wafer and its integration into a finished device, the timing aligns well with the anticipated Galaxy S27 launch early next year.

Increased Production Volume and Technology

The Elec reports that Samsung plans to produce 10% more Exynos 2700 units compared to the Exynos 2600. This increase is linked to the introduction of the Galaxy S27 Pro, a smaller version of the Galaxy S27 Ultra with a similar design but a smaller screen.

The Exynos 2700 utilizes Samsung’s SF2P, a second-generation 2nm Gate-All-Around (GAA) node. Compared to the Exynos 2600, SF2P offers a 12% performance improvement, a 25% reduction in power usage, and an 8% decrease in chip area.
