What Health Guardian Offers

What Health Guardian Offers

Health Guardian provides estimates of longer-term blood pressure patterns using pulse and motion data, tracks shifts in metabolic health without requiring blood draws, and assesses sleep breathing quality. An optional Breathing Emergency Detection feature can call emergency services if blood oxygen levels drop dangerously low and the user stops responding (available on Pixel Watch 4 and 5 in select European countries).

The features are free on Pixel Watch devices. Fitbit Air users will require a Google Health Premium subscription later this year. Google’s approach differs from competitors like Apple and Samsung, which require cuffs for blood pressure monitoring. Apple Watch Series 9 and newer, and the Ultra 2, offer FDA-cleared blood pressure alerts. Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 9 also has a blood pressure trend feature but needs a cuff. Google’s system is cuffless and doesn’t require calibration, though it lacks FDA clearance. Notably, Google is the only major player currently tracking insulin resistance from a wrist-worn device.
