Google pixel 10a: facetime support a myth or reality?
Google's upcoming budget Pixel 10a is expected to bring several exciting features to the table. Recently, the phone's Google Store page went live, hinting at some of the key features users can expect. One such mention caught attention - FaceTime.
At first glance, it seemed like Google might be finally opening up FaceTime to android users, a feature previously exclusive to Apple devices. However, a closer look reveals that the mention likely refers to the ability to join FaceTime calls via a web link, which has been available on all android devices since 2021.
This isn't the first time Google has mentioned FaceTime on its product pages. The same phrase appeared on the Pixel 10's Google Store page, with no actual FaceTime app support materializing.
While Google has a history of bringing Apple-exclusive features to its Pixel lineup, such as AirDrop, there's currently no concrete evidence suggesting FaceTime support is imminent. We might see an official FaceTime app for Pixel phones or the entire android ecosystem in the future, but until then, joining FaceTime calls from android devices will remain browser-based with some limitations.
