Kpmg offers cash prizes to spark ai innovation among consultants
KPMG is betting big on cash to unlock the artificial intelligence potential within its consulting ranks. The firm is launching the “ai Spark Innovation” awards program, offering substantial monetary rewards to employees who develop groundbreaking ai applications.
The initiative, detailed by Rob Fisher, KPMG’s US Consulting Chief, aims to shift the focus from billable hours to tangible results driven by ai. The program encourages employees at all levels, from directors downwards, to explore and scale innovative aiideas that benefit clients and improve internal operations.

The lure of significant payouts
While specific dollar amounts remain undisclosed, Fisher indicated the cash prizes would significantly exceed typical year-end variable compensation – a range of 3% to 6% of an employee’s salary, often between $70,000 and $120,000 for junior consultants. The exact distribution of the prize money will depend on the impact of the idea, potentially shared among teams.
