Starting May 31, 2026, users will only be able to log into SwiftKey using their Microsoft account. The tech giant has reportedly been sending emails to all users, warning them of the impending change.

This means that SwiftKey's syncing feature, which allows users to access their typing data across multiple devices, will now only work with Microsoft accounts. Any accounts created using Google or Apple IDs will be deleted on May 31.

Users who already signed in with their Microsoft account won't need to take any action, as their data will be automatically moved to OneDrive storage associated with their Microsoft account.

However, those who prefer not to use OneDrive for their typing data will lose the syncing feature if they don't switch to a Microsoft account. Microsoft is offering enhanced privacy protection and 1,000 Microsoft Rewards points as incentives for the change.

This move aligns with Microsoft's growing requirement for its services to use Microsoft accounts, which has both positives like better ecosystem integration and negatives like reduced user choice.
