Smartphone buyers in China face a new reality: prices are climbing. Oppo and OnePlus have initiated price increases on select models, a move that could signal a broader trend across the industry.

Oppo’s K13 series and at least one K12 device also saw price increases. Notably, flagship Oppo phones remain untouched for now. This isn't an isolated incident; Vivo and its sub-brand iQOO have also announced price increases starting March 18.

The reason? A persistent memory shortage is driving up component costs. While these changes are currently confined to the Chinese market, analysts predict that future phone releases globally will likely carry higher price tags. Delaying a purchase might seem prudent, but delaying a phone upgrade altogether isn't an option for many.
