Partial screen recording now available on samsung galaxy devices

One ui 8.5 update brings convenient new feature

Samsung has rolled out its One UI 8.5 beta update, which includes a handy partial screen recording feature. This allows users to capture video of specific areas on the screen instead of the entire display.

When recording, the system can automatically detect video content and frame the relevant area. Users can simply tap to start recording without needing to manually adjust the frame.

New Option in Screen Record Menu

In the screen record menu, users now have the choice between full screen and partial screen recording. Selecting partial screen allows for customizable recording frames.

Not a new concept

While Samsung is introducing this feature, it's not entirely new. OnePlus devices have offered similar functionality since Oxygen OS 15, and Pixel phones also have their own selective app recording option.

Availability and future prospects

The One UI 8.5 update is currently available for the galaxy S25 series, with the stable build set to launch alongside the galaxy S26 lineup on February 25th. It remains to be seen if Samsung will expand this feature to other devices in the future.
