Samsung bixby gets a major ai overhaul: natural language & web search

Bixby's long-awaited upgrade

Samsung's virtual assistant, Bixby, hasn't seen significant updates in recent times. Thankfully, that's about to change! Samsung has announced a major reboot, injecting more AI power into Bixby to make it a more useful and intuitive assistant. This revamp is currently being tested in the fifth One UI 8.5 beta for the Galaxy S25 series, alongside bug fixes.

Understanding natural language

One of the most significant upgrades is Bixby’s ability to understand natural language. Forget rigid commands; you can now simply tell Bixby what you want, and it will handle it. For example, stating, “I don’t want the screen to time out while I am still looking at it” will automatically enable the “Keep screen on while viewing” setting. This eliminates the need to navigate through complicated settings menus.

Intelligent assistance with explanations

Beyond simply executing commands, the upgraded Bixby can now provide explanations. If you ask, “Why does my phone screen always remain on when it’s inside my pocket?” Bixby will identify the disabled accidental touch protection setting and even offer the direct option to enable it. This proactive approach makes troubleshooting device issues much easier for users, even those less tech-savvy.

Real-time web search capabilities
