Samsung galaxy s26 ultra: a refined powerhouse with innovative privacy

hello tech enthusiasts! i'm jennifer white, and i'm thrilled to share my initial impressions of the samsung galaxy s26 ultra. it seems samsung is sticking with a winning formula, but with some really cool upgrades that make this phone even more impressive. let's dive into what makes the s26 ultra stand out.nn

Enhanced privacy with privacy display

n

one of the most interesting features is the privacy display. it's a screen feature built directly into the display, unlike the privacy screen protectors many people use. this means it doesn’t compromise image quality or block your view when you’re not actively looking at the screen. you can customize it to only activate when you're entering sensitive information like passwords or banking apps.

n

the privacy display has two levels: a gentle dimming when viewed from the side and a complete blacking out when viewed at an angle. while the more intense option does reduce image quality, it's a fantastic feature for keeping your information private. it’s a clever way to balance privacy with usability. i'm still exploring the full capabilities, but it definitely sets the s26 ultra apart.

n

A more streamlined design

n

last year, samsung moved away from the sharp corners of the s25 ultra, opting for a more rounded design. this year, they've taken it a step further, making the s26 ultra noticeably slimmer. the thickness has reduced from 8.2mm to 7.9mm, and the weight is down to 214 grams (from 218 grams). this makes the phone feel more comfortable to hold and even more premium. it's a subtle change, but it really elevates the overall feel.

n

Improved charging speed

n

fast charging is getting a boost! the s26 ultra now supports 65w wired charging, up from 45w on the s25 ultra. this is a welcome improvement, allowing you to top up your battery much faster. while i haven't tested the full charging speed yet, i'm excited to see how it performs.

n

Performance and battery: a familiar formula

n

samsung is sticking with the snapdragon 8 gen 5 for galaxy chipset, which should ensure blazing-fast performance. the 5000 mah battery capacity remains the same, but with optimizations and a new thermal solution, i expect the battery life to be excellent. samsung’s performance and battery management have been consistently strong, and i anticipate the s26 ultra will continue this trend. our in-depth testing will provide a more detailed breakdown.

n

Enhanced camera and ai features

n

beyond the design and charging improvements, the s26 ultra boasts enhanced camera capabilities and even more intelligent artificial intelligence (ai) features. samsung is refining its image processing and expanding the capabilities beyond the basics. this, combined with a more powerful chipset, positions the s26 ultra as a top contender in the Android landscape.

n

Competition and the future

n

the s26 ultra faces stiff competition from brands like xiaomi and vivo, but samsung continues to offer a compelling package with a combination of features, design, and software. while the absence of silicon-carbonTechnology might be a miss for some, the overall improvements and the superiority of samsung’s software experience make this a very attractive option. i’m excited to see how the s26 ultra performs in our full review, and i believe it will continue to lead the way for Android flagships.

n

the s26 ultra is available for pre-order starting march 11th, with the 256gb model priced at $1300. stay tuned for more updates and a comprehensive review!
