Samsung galaxy watch ultra 2 could finally bring 5g connectivity
Samsung is reportedly gearing
up to launch a successor to the Galaxy Watch Ultra, and the next model—likely dubbed the Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025)—may finally include a significant upgrade: 5g connectivity. This would put Samsung on par with Apple's Watch Ultra 3, which already boasts this feature.
Galaxy watch ultra 2 rumored to add 5g
A report from GalaxyClub suggests the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 (model number SM-L716) could be the first Samsung smartwatch with 5g capabilities. This potential move aligns with rumors of a processor upgrade, possibly utilizing Qualcomm's Snapdragon Wear Elite chip, which has integrated 5g support.
Samsung has been playing catch-up in the smartwatch arena. Apple introduced 5g to its latest smartwatches, including the Apple Watch Ultra 3 and Apple Watch Series 11, earlier this year.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is anticipated to debut this summer, alongside other devices like the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 foldables, and the Galaxy Watch 9 series. While the standard Galaxy Watch 9 is expected to stick with the Exynos W10 chipset, the Ultra model’s upgrade feels like a necessary step.
Samsung initially embraced 5G with the Galaxy S10 5G in 2019. Seven years later, extending this technology to wearables feels like a logical progression. It’s not a revolutionary feature, but it brings the devices up to date.
The inclusion of 5G will likely enhance features like faster data transfer and improved connectivity in remote locations. It’s a welcome addition to a device already known for its rugged design and robust functionality.
It’s a move that addresses a long-standing gap in Samsung's wearable lineup and positions the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 as a more competitive offering in the premium smartwatch market.
