Samsung's Apple Glass Competitor Is Coming Sooner Than You Think

Samsung's smart glasses are on the horizon. The company teased the wearable earlier this year during its Unpacked event, and now, thanks to an FCC listing, we have more details about this potential Apple Glass competitor.

Design Collaborations and FCC Listing

Samsung is partnering with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster for the design of its smart glasses, similar to Meta's collaboration with Ray-Ban. Recent FCC listings have revealed two distinct design variations for the temple of the device. One is likely the Warby Parker version, while the other could be the Gentle Monster model.

The FCC listings also reveal model numbers SM-O200J and SM-O200P, with the letters “P” and “J” likely representing Parker and Gentle Monster, respectively. The inner temple label indicates a 5V at 1A input, resulting in 5W of charging power.

Expected Specs and Features

Samsung aims to create the lightest smart glasses on the market, surpassing both Meta Ray-Ban glasses and the upcoming Apple Glass. During the summer Unpacked event, Samsung shared its vision for the first Android XR smart glasses, which are expected to utilize a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip. The Android XR platform will feature deep Gemini integration, including live translation, message summarization, and visual context search.

The glasses will also include a 12MP camera (using a Sony sensor), open-ear speakers, multiple noise-canceling microphones, and touch controls on the temples. Users will be able to control the smart glasses from their Galaxy Watch and Galaxy phone.
