Samsung's galaxy s26 models may lack native 10-bit color depth

A potential bombshell has dropped for those eagerly awaiting the Samsung Galaxy S26 series, as it appears that none of the models will boast native 10-bit color depth support.

Vanilla s26, s26+, and s26 ultra face 8-bit reality

Contrary to early rumors and later claims, the Galaxy S26 Ultra's display panel actually features an 8-bit native display, according to a Samsung representative contacted by SamMobile.

This revelation effectively means that the 8-bit limitation extends to all Galaxy S26 models, including the base Galaxy S26 and S26+.

While the 8-bit display may not be ideal for some enthusiasts, Samsung's representative noted that the newer models exhibit reduced color banding compared to their predecessors, potentially thanks to a 10-bit color depth simulation achieved through an 8-bit panel and frame rate control (FRC).
