T-mobile netflix deal splits subscribers: discounts vary by plan
T-Mobile customers who get Netflix through the carrier are facing a new reality: not all are getting the same discount on the streaming service.

T-mobile’s netflix perk offers uneven savings for subscribers
The “Netflix on Us” promotion, a long-standing perk for T-Mobile subscribers, is still technically available, but the discount offered varies depending on the subscriber's plan. While those on the cheapest plan receive a $9 discount, those with more expensive subscriptions are seeing a smaller reduction.
This isn't the first time T-Mobile has treated different customer tiers differently with this deal. A couple of years ago, all subscribers received a $6.99 discount. The offer has since increased to $8.99 for the lowest-tier plan.
The disparity has sparked frustration among some users, particularly on Reddit, where comments highlight the perceived unfairness. One user noted the illogical nature of the tiered discounts, questioning why a consistent discount isn’t offered across the board.
This situation comes as Netflix itself continues to raise prices. Verizon, another major carrier, recently increased its Netflix and HBO Max bundle price by $3 a month, a move likely influenced by Netflix’s own price hikes. While Verizon still offers a bundle saving subscribers $6.98 a month compared to subscribing separately, the move nonetheless highlights the escalating cost of streaming.
The streaming wars are intensifying, with companies constantly adjusting prices and bundling options. It’s a pattern familiar to consumers, and it’s leaving many wondering when the savings will end.
The price of streaming is climbing – and it’s not just Netflix. Industry analysts project total content spending will reach a staggering $20 billion this year, a significant increase from the $18 billion spent in 2025. With a question mark hanging over the profitability of many streaming services, consumers are increasingly facing the reality of higher subscription costs.
The competition among streaming services is fierce, yet the cost burden is increasingly falling on the viewer.
