Social media site X, formerly Twitter, was down on Monday morning, affecting users across the country. According to Downdetector, the number of complaints skyrocketed from 10 at 8:14 AM EST to 40,943 in just 30 minutes, peaking at 53% related to app issues, 21% to feed/timeline problems, and 16% to website difficulties.
Incident timeline and user impact
The outage was reported to have affected much of the northeastern U.S., Texas, Florida, California, and the Seattle area, as shown on the Speedtest app's User Report Map. Downdetector's methodology still indicated problems at 10:37 AM EST, while the X Incident History site revealed no new incidents since January 29th's resolved outage.
